After a public hearing drew supporters and opponents from the community, the City Planning Commission rejected a proposal to allow year-round whole-home rentals in New Orleans. The public hearing lasted several hours and included comments from residents in support of and those against short-term rentals that are posted on websites like Airbnb. Advocates believe the rentals provide more money for the local economy, while opponents believe the business model is destroying neighborhoods.
