A luxury West 37th Street building where one-bedroom pads rent for more than $3,700 a month has been turned into an “illegal Airbnb-style hotel’’— with nearly a quarter of its 260 units sublet to tourists, a lawsuit charges. Clifford and Mie Yellen, the Manhattan couple suing their building, say their landlord has been “brazenly’’ flouting the law for the past six years despite “the repeated issuance of notices of violation and fines” from the city totaling $8,800. “Defendants simply pay the resulting fine and defiantly proceed to continue operating their illegal makeshift hotel,” the Yellens say in court papers….
