Mayor de Blasio may have wound up in roughly the right place in guiding the city to selectively crack down on bulk operators doing illegal-hotel business through the internet lodging service Airbnb — and leave most ordinary hosts alone. But because of the mayor’s hunger for raising money in massive chunks, his decisions are now, properly, under a dark cloud of suspicion. A Daily News probe by Greg Smith revealed that as de Blasio engaged in delicate discussions with Airbnb in 2015 to fine-tune the reach of its operations in the city, money was moving. The mayor was meeting with Airbnb’s foremost local foe, hotel workers’ union chief Peter Ward, and de Blasio’s political fund, the Campaign for One New York, was pocketing $200,000 from Ward’s national affiliate, Unite Here…
