It’s safe to say Airbnb never intended for their company to help burglars identify targets, but this scary strategy is becoming increasingly popular. Earlier this month, a 35-year-old Newark, New Jersey man was arrested for allegedly renting out a Mountain View, California home on Airbnb just so he could stake it out and ultimately burglarize it. But this isn’t the first time an Airbnb host has become the victim of a robbery. In 2011, a host that goes by EJ said a guest broke into a closet and gained access to documents like birth certificates and Social Security cards. And earlier this month, a host in Anaheim, Ohio came home to find appliances, furniture and more had been stolen. So if you’re currently a host on the popular website, consider yourself warned….
