City officials butting heads with Airbnb and other short-term rental companies is nothing new: There have been disputes about Airbnb’s legality in New York City and San Francisco, despite the company’s exponential growth in markets from France to Cuba. But the latest city to wage a battle against the global company is New Orleans, where the flood of visitors in town for the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (which ends May 1) turned a spotlight on how many locals were making extra cash by renting out their homes….
