Chicago Tribune – Emanuel’s Airbnb rules take a big step toward approval

Another day, another change to Chicago’s proposed online house rental rules. Under the latest version of the rules, which have changed so much this spring that Emanuel held off calling them for a vote last month because aldermen were confused about what they were being asked to support, residents would be able to start a petition within their precinct to set specific standards for online rentals. The petition could either outlaw any new such rentals from being posted online, or outlaw any new online rentals in houses that are not the host’s “primary residence.”…
