WDSU News – Planning Commission sides with opponents of whole-home short-term rentals in NOLA

After a public hearing drew supporters and opponents from the community, the City Planning Commission rejected a proposal to allow year-round whole-home rentals in New Orleans. The public hearing lasted several hours and included comments from residents in support of and those against short-term rentals that are posted on websites like Airbnb. Advocates believe the rentals provide more money for the local economy, while opponents believe the business model is destroying neighborhoods. The City Council will give final approval on short-term rentals in New Orleans….
