Richmond Times Dispatch – Bill creating Airbnb framework barely clears Senate

Similar legislation had easily passed the House earlier in the session. But senators, led by Majority Leader Thomas K. Norment, Jr., R-James City, dug into the language of the bill and concluded that it does not explicitly require that Airbnb, or any “limited residential lodging” company, to register with the state Department of Taxation and set up a system to remit state and local taxes for stays booked through its portal….
