First fines against the City of Barcelona tourist accommodation platforms. The council has fined HomeAway Airbnb and 60,000 euros each. The fine is the result of two disciplinary proceedings, each of 30,000 euros, the first to advertise illegal tourist apartments without the registration number of Tourism of Catalonia (RTC) and the second for not responding to the requirements of the administration of data the accommodation announced without RTC…The council has used an IT tool to monitor the supply of existing tourist accommodation that do indicate number of RTC. Of all platforms, the detection process is initiated by the two portals with more supply, HomeAway and Airbnb, and are proven to continue publicizing many homes without stating the number of RTC.
