Stays in Baltimore booked through Airbnb would be subject to the city’s hefty 9.5 percent hotel tax under legislation the City Council will take up Tuesday. The bill, put forward by the Stephanie Rawlings-Blake administration this month, comes amid broader efforts to regulate Airbnb, a growing online booking platform that links travelers to property owners offering homes or rooms for rent on a short-term basis, taking a cut of the room rate. The city is also working on regulations to make Airbnb rentals subject to inspections for health and safety requirements, but that measure is not ready for this legislative session, Smullian said….
